Drink driving (DUI) is one of the most common traffic offences causing people go to court. Persons from all walks of life are charged with drink driving. The Courts treat drink driving seriously and this is reflected in the penalties. In some situations, a drink driving charge can cause a person to be sent to prison. In some circumstances, the law says the Court must send a person to jail.

All drink driving charges result in a mandatory driver licence disqualification. If you are without a driver licence for a long time have you thought about what is going to happen. Ask yourself:

  • How will I get to work?
  • How will I operate my business?
  • How will I get the kids to childcare?
  • How will I get the kids to school?
  • How will I get to the shops?

Being without a driver licence in Maroochydore for a long time is difficult. You need your car to get around.

When charged with a drink driving offence you need a lawyer. Friends or family may tell you a lawyer will not make any difference, but they are wrong. The Magistrate hearing your case gets to decide what penalty and driver licence disqualification they give you. There is no set penalty or disqualification period the Magistrate must impose.
